The Dutch Honours Community (DHC) is the network and lobby organisation of Honours students in the Netherlands.
On the national level, the DHC aims to strengthen the Honours Community by fostering interactions and knowledge exchange between, providing support to, and organising diverse activities for local member associations. Furthermore, the DHC maintains relationships with politics, educational institutes and other partners, representing Honours students in the national debate on excellence education.
In a design science study, developing a metamodel, modelling pattern and viewpoints for modelling security architectures of collaborative networks. These artefacts were applied within the context of an architecture development methodology, security analysis methodology, modelling tool and modelling language.
A collaborative network is an adaptive and scalable ecosystem in which heterogeneous, autonomous and asynchronous entities – originating from different security domains – are collaborating to achieve some common goals. This requires that security is asserted for both the atomic systems as well as the ecosystems which they are part of.
The Centre of Expertise in Learning and Teaching (CELT) provides support to all members of the university community in the design and implementation of educational innovations.
At CELT, I instructed learning/teaching assistants and moderated online training sessions for PhD-candidates who want to improve their didactical, educational and coaching skills.
The Honours Office is the operational management team that monitors and secures the continuity, quality and developments of the Honours programmes at the University of Twente. Its main task is to facilitate the different excellence programmes, solve problems ad-hoc and create policies.
To my main responsibilities belonged:
- Optimising and upscaling application, selection and graduation processes.
- Policy development.
- Organising and coordinating events.
- External relations.
- IT landscape management.
- Online and hybrid education.
- Digital promotion and identity.
- Student and course administration.
Quality Assurance EEMCS is committed to monitor, secure and improve the quality of all the Bachelor's and Master's programmes of the faculty.
I supported the quality coordinator with the implementation and execution of a new quality policy, along with providing management advice. This involved upscaling, automating and standardising the monitoring and feedback process in EvaSys.
As a teaching assistant, I supervised and guided lectures, tutorials and Q&A-sessions in courses that are participated by Bachelor/Master students or industry professionals. Furthermore, I created and assessed assignments, projects and exam questions; managed LMS sites; coordinated other teaching assistants and tutors; and performed or managed minor organisational tasks.
The Dutch Honours Community is the network and lobby organisation of Honours students studying at Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences.
Next to my secretary tasks, my main contributions included:
- Transitioning to G-Suite.
- Creating a 5-year vision and strategy plan.
- Launching a new website.
- Optimising communication and organisational structures.
- Representing Honours students in interlocal consultations.
Individual tutoring of high school students in physics, chemistry, mathematics and related subjects. Furthermore, providing small-scale courses to prepare students for the Dutch pre-university (vwo) physics exam according to NiNa.
Bachelor Thesis. Conducted at Thales.
Abstract:
A Collaborative Network (CN) is an adaptive and scalable ecosystem in which heterogeneous, autonomous and asynchronous entities – originating from different security domains – are collaborating to achieve some common goals. This requires that security is asserted for both the atomic systems as well as the ecosystems which they are part of. To support the latter, this design science study presents a metamodel for CN security architectures, allowing vulnerabilities to be uncovered and attacks assessed. Using a fictional case on Collaborative Combat, it is illustrated how the generic security metamodel - including a modelling pattern and viewpoints - can be applied within the context of an architecture development methodology, security analysis methodology, modelling tool and modelling language. A small-scale evaluation with possible future end-users seems to indicate that the design artefacts have the potential for modelling relevant system security properties of CNs, but that further development is necessary.
Bachelor Thesis. Awarded with the Best Paper Award (track Information Management) at the 31st Twente Student Conference on IT.
Abstract:
As business environments are increasingly dynamic and are changing rapidly, enterprise architectures have to be more resilient by design in order to cope with disruptions in an efficient and effective way. Although the literature provides multiple suggestions for achieving this, there is a need to assess how resilient an existing enterprise architecture is, what kind of changes are necessary and what the effects of these changes are. Hence, this study has the aim to create a framework – consisting of factors and metrics – which could be used to measure and analyse the resilience of enterprise architectures. The factors and metrics were identified and defined based on a systematic literature review, inferring factors and metrics from other contexts into the context of enterprise architectures. It seems that resilience in this context should be considered as an attribute which could be achieved by four connected abilities: anticipate, monitor, learn and respond. Four factors were identified (vulnerability to risks, agility, adaptability and robustness) which all contribute to at least one of these abilities comprising a process causing resilience. For some of the factors, metrics were also identified.
The Master BIT programme aims to bridge the gap between business strategies and processes on the one hand, and IT structures and innovations on the other hand. In this programme, my main focus is on Enterprise/IT Architectures, Business Process Management and Data Analytics/Business Intelligence.
